Connecting Careers & Classrooms

Connecting Careers & Classrooms: Construction

When: March 12, 2018, 8:00am – Noon

Where: Grand Park Events Center, 19000 Grand Park Blvd., Westfield, IN 46074

Do you know students who enjoy being outdoors, physically active, working with people, are creative and like to work with their hands? The construction industry could be a great fit for them! Come learn from young professionals and hiring managers who are passionate about the work they do in the construction industry at the upcoming Connecting Careers & Classrooms event.

Connecting Careers & Classrooms is aimed at advancing our workforce by raising awareness of workforce needs. It is a workshop convened by Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks in Indiana’s 5th District that bridges the gap between industry and educators and fuels the future for our students.

The seventh event in the series will focus on careers in construction.  Educators will have a first-hand chance to better acquaint themselves with the vast array of career opportunities in the construction industry and will get a behind the scenes look at what it took to build and construct Westfield’s Grand Park Events Center.  During the morning, attendees will hear from a variety of representatives from different employers within the construction industry. Representatives from the Indiana Construction Roundtable, Gaylor Electric, The Hagerman Group, Meyer Najem, Arbor Homes, and many more will be a part of our panels and discussion.

Connecting Careers & Classrooms is open to all middle- and high-school educators (counselors, administrators and teachers) in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. For more information about this event, please call the Carmel office at 317-848-0201 or email Jennifer at jennifer.bagi@mail.house.gov. Previous Connecting Careers & Classrooms events focused on careers in public safety and service, financial services, agribusiness, technology, life sciences, and healthcare, and were attended by more than 300 local educators and school administrators. Professional Growth Points are awarded to all attendees.
