Rep. Brooks Speaks in Support of S. 599, the Improving Access to Emergency Psychiatric Care Act

S. 599, the Improving Access to Emergency Psychiatric Care Act, companion legislation to H.R. 3681, a bill I introduced this year passed the House on November 16, 2015. This proposal gives people access to short-term, direct care in psychiatric hospitals when they need it, removing the burden of care from the emergency departments of general hospitals in our communities. This will prevent senseless tragedies, improve continuity of care for patients struggling with mental illness, and save taxpayer dollars.
