Washington, D.C. – Today, President Trump announced that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie would chair the White House Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission. Rep. Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) released the following statement:

“91 Americans die every day from opioid overdoses. This is indeed a crisis, and I want to commend the President for recognizing the urgent need for action to address heroin and opioid abuse in our country. My friend, Governor Chris Christie, is an excellent choice to lead the White House Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission. Governor Christie is a strong and passionate advocate, and he will make a difference for the millions of Americans struggling with substance abuse and their families. I look forward to working with the Governor and the Administration to support efforts that improve education, prevention and treatment options, provide law enforcement officers and first responders with the tools and resources they need, and support our medical professionals on the front lines of this epidemic.”
